Shaking Up the Art & Science of Beverage

October 2017 | Gary, Executive Research Chef

Consumers’ busy lifestyles and demand for more experiential eating have elevated the role that beverages play in managing and maximizing life experiences. With a heavy focus on convenience and craft, every aspect of various beverage occasions is being reimagined. It is with this focus that we created a purpose-driven mixology kitchen in our new Culinary innovation Center that lets us concept and create winning concepts for our customers—from cocktails and mocktails to dairy and meal replacement shakes and coffee and teas, we are equipped to redefine the beverage taste experience.

Our vision for the Culinary Mixology bar, led by our resident culinary mixologist Chef Gabby, was to do for beverages what we have done for food. Beyond ‘shaking and stirring’, Chef Gabby envisioned a mixology kitchen that was fully equipped to bring the benefit of culinary prep techniques and layered flavor creation to even the simplest of sips. Never one to shy away from new technology or ways to deliver a product experience, Chef Gabby lets his imagination run wild and finds new ways to elevate a customers’ brand experience and story–often with solutions that are illogically inspiring or ingenious.

By combining our culinary-inspired process with the latest beverage technology, we bring customers ‘brand-worthy’ inspiration that allows them to capitalize on the increasingly blurring boundaries between food and beverage taste occasions. To achieve this inspiration, our chefs take the time to get to know our customers’ brands–where better to get to know one another than a bar?

A bar is about sharing stories, dreams and ‘what-ifs’–and ours is no exception. We hope to inspire our customers to re-evaluate how they approach research and development, and give them a new lens on creativity. Ultimately, the mixology kitchen exists to get our customers to ask “Wow, what can you do with that?” With the ability to perform a reverse osmosis extraction of teas, herbs and spices or ferment a new kombucha or brew a new beer, the answers that come out of that question may just be the next beverage that consumers just can’t get enough of.
